GUARO

Americans spent 14 billion on jeans in 2004. Initially, jeans were sturdy trousers worn by workers. After James Dean wore them in the 50s movie “Rebel Without a Cause” blue jeans became symbolic. Today people all over the world wear jeans. Our concept is to create a pair of jeans for the 21sth century! We have reduced mixing of materials and unsustainable details. These jeans are recyclable and when they are worn out, just remove the buttons and they will biodegrade in the earth!

Biodegradable jeans!

guaro jeans
This is the first concept in a line of biodegradable jeans Designed by Emelie Runnquist and Sofia Caravaggi. We started this project when we realiesed how unsustainable regular blue jeans are! The goal of this concept is to show people that high fashion and cool design can go hand in hand with ecology. We did a Life Cycle Analy- sis on a pair of jeans and based our innovations on the information and conclusions that we reached. The design impact on both environment and consumer is carefully though through.
